Racing Incident Report
Race Eleven: (817) - THE HONG KONG RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1400Meters
KING OPIE and GLORIOUS SPECTRUM began only fairly.
LOBO'S LEGEND began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, SICHUAN DAR, MR SO AND SO, FAST MOST FURIOUS and GORGEOUS KING were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 850 Metres, CALIFORNIA WHIP was left racing wide and without cover.
At the 400 Metres, LOBO'S LEGEND became unbalanced when crowded for room inside CRUISING which was giving ground abruptly.
CRUISING subsequently finished tailed out.
The performance of CRUISING was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, CRUISING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
U Rispoli (GLORIOUS SPECTRUM) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 250 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of CALIFORNIA WHIP, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
In the circumstances, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for U Rispoli to be fined the sum of $60,000 in lieu of a period of suspension incorporating two racemeetings.
Passing the 100 Metres, HEZTHEWONFORUS shifted in abruptly after being brushed by ELUSIVE STATE which was racing tight inside KING OPIE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from GLORIOUS SPECTRUM.
When HEZTHEWONFORUS shifted in abruptly, LOBO'S LEGEND was crowded for room and consequently was not able to be ridden out over the concluding stages.
After the race, Z Purton stated that at this stage of THANKS FOREVER's career, the horse did not appear to him to appreciate stepping up to 1400 Metres for the first time.
He said THANKS FOREVER is still relatively immature and having only its 5th race start today.
He said after being placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight, THANKS FOREVER initially responded satisfactorily, however, commenced to give ground at the 300 Metres and then did not finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of THANKS FOREVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of HEZTHEWONFORUS, GORGEOUS KING and CRUISING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HEZTHEWONFORUS, FAST MOST FURIOUS and GLORIOUS SPECTRUM were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Good??to "Good to Firm?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm??

On Friday, 12 July 2019, the Stewards interviewed Trainer D E Ferraris and an owner/member of the Club regarding a complaint lodged by the owner in respect of the text messages between him and Mr Ferraris on Wednesday, 10 July 2019.
The Stewards do not believe it is appropriate for the name of the owner to be released.
After taking evidence from both parties, the Stewards found that whilst the test messages from Mr Ferraris did not contain insulting or threatening language, nonetheless some of the words used were unnecessary.
Mr Ferraris was advised to ensure that he at all times conducts himself in a professional manner expected of a licensee.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 10 July 2019 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of LOOK ERAS, AQUILA, BEST SMILE, SPEEDY WALLY, OPEN HOUSE, LIGHTNING TREASURE, FANTASTIC FABIO, LADY FIRST, PLAY WISE, STARLIT KNIGHT, HIGH REV, ENFOLDING, HONG KONG BET, JUMBO HAPPINESS, MAGIC LEGEND, E MASTER, TASHIDELEK, TRUE GRIT, XIANG BAI QI, TORNADO TWIST and LOVING A BOOM revealed no apparent abnormality.

Fast Most Furious came with a bold move near the outside after a patient ride third from the rear to grab victory in the final strides. He had put the writing on the wall when just missing out last time out. Glorious Spectrum was just denied after surging to a narrow lead at the 150m travelling better than midfield. He remains one to follow next season after placing in three of four starts. Elusive State stayed on nicely following a prominent run on the fence to just edge King Opie by a whisker to finish a close third. King Opie just failed to figure in the placings after a midfield run on the fence. He's as honest as the day is long. Hezthewonforus was stopping 100m out after easily assuming the lead from Cruising at the 400m. Mr So And So ran on late without menacing after a patient ride fourth from the rear. It was an honest effort. Lobo's Legend was twice impeded during the straight run when trying to get into the act from behind midfield.
