Recap by phillip woo

Odds-on favourite Victoriam won with plenty in hand after hitting the front 150m out following a prominent run on the fence to make it two on the trot from three outings. Lucky Guy ran on well from midfield to finish a clear-cut second 50m out. He's well rated off his current mark but must have a fast track. Joy Master rallied well to win a blanket a finish for third after making his run fourth from the back. It was clearly his best run to date after arriving off a mark of 76. Blade Racer grudgingly gave way straightening a length on top after leading from a wide gate. It was a better effort carrying a much lighter weight. Sprint Forward made up heaps of ground settling second last on the fence after a slow start. It was an improved effort in blinkers and a hood at only his third start and there's clearly progress to come from him. Kung Fu Tea held his ground travelling fore of midfield. It wasn't a bad effort on debut and he'll come on from the experience.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (769) - RACING GOES ON 1200M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

SPRINT FORWARD was slow to begin.

MAX GLENEALY began awkwardly.

MASTER GALAXY and KUNG FU TEA bumped at the start.

From a wide barrier, FORTUNE BUDDY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SPRINT FORWARD lost its right hind plate passing the 1000 Metres.

KUNG FU TEA got its head up and made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly.

Approaching the 800 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FOODIE PRINCESS.

Near the 750 Metres, LUCKY GUY commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of VICTORIAM.

Near the 450 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE raced tight outside KUNG FU TEA which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Passing the 300 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE again raced tight outside KUNG FU TEA.

Approaching the 100 Metres, JOY MASTER shifted out and brushed SPRINT FORWARD.

Close to the finishing line, MAX GLENEALY was awkwardly placed outside the hindquarters of SPRINT FORWARD.

BLADE RACER got its head on the side and lay out making the turns.

Throughout the race, FOODIE PRINCESS travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, K Teetan stated that, from a wide barrier, he was asked to ride CALIFORNIA LEGEND in about midfield with cover if possible but not to ride his mount along to do so.

He said it was felt that, from a wide barrier, if too much use was made of CALIFORNIA LEGEND in the early stages, the horse may not be able to finish off the race and it was also felt that a midfield position would provide CALIFORNIA LEGEND with the best opportunity to close off.

He said in the early stages FARM BUMPER maintained its position to the inside of CALIFORNIA LEGEND and as he believed that he would have had to ride CALIFORNIA LEGEND along to clear that horse, he elected to steady his mount and obtain a position with cover behind FARM BUMPER making the first turn.

He said he shifted in further to be racing behind MAX GLENEALY after the 900 Metres but was then again able to shift to the outside of MAX GLENEALY to follow FARM BUMPER after the 700 Metres.

He added after being shifted to the outside of runners in the Straight, CALIFORNIA LEGEND then finished off the race well.

A veterinary inspection of MASTER GALAXY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

VICTORIAM and LUCKY GUY were sent for sampling.
