Recap by phillip woo
Raging favourite Big Party won with plenty in hand in a very good time after assuming the lead 250m stalking the leader Dream Come True to ring up a third win from five starts. He's got a very bright future. Highland Fortune was no match for the winner but stayed on very well following a midfield run on the fence to edge Mr Croissant for second in an eye-catching debut. He looks a nice sort going forward. Mr Croissant made a steady bid travelling one-off behind midfield to nearly take second. It was another good effort after winning in his past two of three starts. Red Desert finished a distant fourth after getting every chance in the box-seat. He's made natural progress in his three starts. Dream Come True was coming back to the field over the final 150m after getting his own way in front. The shorter straight at the Valley suits him better. Key Witness ran on without menacing after taking the final bend awkwardly. He likely needed the outing.
