Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (657) - COLOANE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
CHAMPION PRIDE was withdrawn on 10.5.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GUY DRAGON (C Schofield).
Before being allowed to race again, CHAMPION PRIDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WINNING ENDEAVOUR was slow to begin.
MR ALDAN began only fairly and then was steadied away from the heels of SPIRIT which shifted out.
MORE THAN THIS began only fairly.
PICKEN shifted in at the start and hampered SHOUSON and FARSHAD.
From the outside barrier, HONEST WAY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners, however, travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.
After racing wide and without cover, SHOUSON was allowed to improve its position near the 800 Metres to race outside the lead.
Near the 500 Metres, SPIRIT momentarily raced tight outside WINNING ENDEAVOUR which shifted out before being directed back in to relieve the tightening to SPIRIT.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on MR ALDAN at the request of Trainer A S Cruz.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
GUY DRAGON and BAND OF BROTHERS were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 8 May 2019 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of FLASH FAMOUS, BUDDIES, ASSOCIATION FANS, CORRE RAPIDO, SKY TREASURE, BOND ELEGANCE, EXPONENTS, FAME AND FORTUNE, GRAND HARBOUR, COOLCELEB, GENERAL DINO, ENFOLDING, GLORIOUS ARTIST, RAGING BLITZKRIEG, JUST NOT LISTENING, COBY OPPA, HANDSOME REBEL, PING HAI TREASURE and TANG FLEMING revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of GUNNAR, MR RIGHT, HONG KONG WIN, STARLOT, FORMULA GALORE, PRECIOUS SWEETIE, JOLLY CONVERGENCE, LUCKY THOUGHT, GENTRY, HAPPY WARRIOR, PRANCE DRAGON, LOVING A BOOM, GREEN LUCK, LAST KINGDOM, PERFECT GLORY, FIRST RESPONDER, VINCY, ARCADA and VIGOR FAME (1.5.19) proved negative.

Late call-up runner Guy Dragon quickened nicely from behind midfield after switching underneath Picken for a clear run at the 200m. He's a progressive sort and can certainly head higher. Band Of Brothers found one just too good following a midfield run. He lost nothing in defeat in his first start in the grade following back-to-back wins and remains one to follow. Late-fancied Picken couldn't hold off the Quinella pair after surging to the front 350m out. He's building towards a win following a racing break. Punted late Mighty Maverick was swamped 50m out after rolling forward to lead near the 1,100m from a wide gate. He's been racing well but keeps finding one or a few too good this season. Winning Endeavour ran on without menacing near the inside after travelling fifth from the back. He has ability but needs to strike an easier test. Baby kept on all right after tracking the speed. It was a better effort at his fourth start with a step up in distance.
