Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Le Terroir repelled early favourite Jumbo Prize over the last 100m after hitting the front passing the 200m following a well-executed one-out, one-back run from a wide gate. Jumbo Prize split the leaders 200m out to give the winner a run for his money following a dream run. He lived up to a positive debut effort and will be winning shortly. Takingufurther grudgingly gave way after getting softened in front by Super Model. He was fitter for two runs and aided by the switch to the pro-speed favouring Valley track. Well-backed Super Model kept on reasonably well pressing the leader from a wide gate. He's does appear from his past two starts to be near a bottom. Wonderful Journey kept grinding away after taking off from near the back at the 850m. Dream Warriors kept on evenly travelling midfield on the fence. Super Red Dragon was short of room late with a move from the rear of the field. It was a better run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (606) - INCHEON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

ALL BEST FRIENDS shifted in at the start and bumped TAKINGUFURTHER.

WONDERFUL JOURNEY began awkwardly and subsequently travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

Shortly after the start, FORTUNE BUDDY lost ground when being checked away from the heels of JUMBO PRIZE which was taken in by SUPER RED DRAGON which in turn was taken in by NEW DYNAMIC.

After this, FORTUNE BUDDY raced detached from the field and finished tailed out.

The performance of FORTUNE BUDDY was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE BUDDY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE BUDDY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also shortly after the start, PLAY WISE was steadied away from the heels of ALL BEST FRIENDS which was taken out by TAKINGUFURTHER.

BRILLIANT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages from the outside barrier.

Passing the 1100 Metres, PLAY WISE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUPER RED DRAGON.

SUPER MODEL travelled keenly outside the lead after the 900 Metres.

Near the 650 Metres, ALL BEST FRIENDS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NEW DYNAMIC which raced close to the heels of LE TERROIR.

When questioned regarding his riding of SUPER RED DRAGON, M Harley stated that he was instructed to ensure that the horse relaxed as SUPER RED DRAGON had previously been difficult to manage.

He said he was also asked to ensure that SUPER RED DRAGON was able to make the turns as best as possible as when travelling keenly in its track work and barrier trials, the horse had made the turns awkwardly due to over-racing.

He said in accordance with his instructions, after being bumped by NEW DYNAMIC on jumping, he steadied his mount to obtain a trailing position as he did not want SUPER RED DRAGON racing keenly given the relatively short run to the first turn.

He said he was particularly mindful to have SUPER RED DRAGON relaxed making the first turn and therefore he elected not to remain racing behind NEW DYNAMIC as he believed that he would have had to allow the horse more rein to maintain its position at the back of that horse which may have resulted in it not being able to make the turn properly.

He said because of this ALL BEST FRIENDS was able to improve its position forward of SUPER RED DRAGON and shift in to be racing ahead of his mount and behind NEW DYNAMIC after the 900 Metres.

He said when racing between WONDERFUL JOURNEY and PLAY WISE near the 700 Metres, SUPER RED DRAGON was taken back through the field as a result of being awkwardly placed behind ALL BEST FRIENDS at the same stage that both WONDERFUL JOURNEY and PLAY WISE were able to improve their position.

He said this resulted in SUPER RED DRAGON being required to race towards the rear of the field.

He added at the entrance to the Straight he immediately shifted SUPER RED DRAGON to the outside of PLAY WISE and commenced to ride his mount along and SUPER RED DRAGON commenced to finish off the race satisfactorily.

He said when PLAY WISE shifted out after the 200 Metres, he directed his mount to the outside of DREAM WARRIORS to ensure that SUPER RED DRAGON's momentum was not impeded.

He said after doing this SUPER RED DRAGON finished off the race well until close to the finishing line at which time he was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WONDERFUL JOURNEY.

Mr W Y So, the trainer of SUPER RED DRAGON advised that he had instructed Jockey Harley to obtain a midfield position if possible from the horse's inside barrier but stressed to Jockey Harley the need to ensure the horse was relaxed.

He said in a lot of its track work and in its trials the horse had proved difficult to settle and he believed that the horse would not finish off the race if it again was not able to relax during the race.

He said he was surprised that SUPER RED DRAGON got as far back in the race as it did, however, he accepted that this was as a result of Jockey Harley riding SUPER RED DRAGON to ensure that it was able to relax.

M Harley was advised that the Stewards accepted his reason for allowing NEW DYNAMIC to cross SUPER RED DRAGON near the 1100 Metres given his instructions, however, he was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have then attempted to remain racing behind that horse rather than allowing ALL BEST FRIENDS to shift in front of SUPER RED DRAGON which resulted in the horse having to race further back in the field than intended.

He was further told to ensure that he rides his mounts in such a manner that they are able to race in the most advantageous position given the instructions and the circumstances of the race.

A veterinary inspection of PLAY WISE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LE TERROIR and JUMBO PRIZE were sent for sampling.
