Recap by phillip woo

Raging favourite Champion's Way raced clear at the 200m after being hustled to settling one-out, one-back from a wide gate to remain unbeaten in four starts. Well-backed Fat Turtle kept on gamely for second after leading from a wide gate. He was able to back up a debut win at the Valley and remains one to follow. Alcari got going travelling one-off behind midfield to nearly grab second. He's capable but not reliable. Solar Wai Wai just finished out of the placings after getting posted deep without cover the entire trip in midfield from a tricky gate. He ran well in defeat when considering the circumstances. It was a fair distance back to fifth but it was a vastly-improved run at his fifth start by Casimiro who just got the better of Top Score following a patient ride third from the back. Top Score was finishing well from near the back in his first run following a right front leg injury in February. He'll be a force to be reckoned with in Class Four.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (544) - PORT SHELTER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

After leaving the Parade Ring, AMAZING LUCK (M L Yeung) bumped a rail and then whilst proceeding to the barriers, M L Yeung's saddle slipped, resulting in him dismounting from the horse and AMAZING LUCK being re-saddled at the barriers.

AMAZING LUCK was also examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

CASIMIRO stumbled on jumping.

BREEDERS' SKY and SOLAR WAI WAI bumped at the start.

Shortly after the start, MOMENTUM GALAXY was bumped by ALCARI which shifted out.

When being steadied from its wide barrier, CAO CAO got its head up repeatedly in the early stages and became very awkward.

CAO CAO again got its head up on a number of occasions near the 1000 Metres when awkwardly placed behind CASIMIRO.

Then approaching the 800 Metres, CAO CAO again got its head up and shifted out abruptly away from the heels of CASIMIRO, resulting in GREAT SMART being hampered and taken wider.

The racing manners of CAO CAO were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CAO CAO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres, ALCARI was momentarily steadied away from the heels of BREEDERS' SKY which was racing tight inside CHAMPION'S WAY.

After the 800 Metres, SOLAR WAI WAI was left racing wide and without cover.

Over the final 100 Metres, AMAZING LUCK was held up for clear running and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

A veterinary inspection of GREAT SMART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of GREAT SMART, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GREAT SMART will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of TOP SCORE immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a laceration to the outside of the left hind heel.

CHAMPION'S WAY and FAT TURTLE were sent for sampling.
