Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (389) - KWU TUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
JOYFUL CONTENDER was slow to begin.
KING OF MONGOLIA and WHAMPOA STAR bumped at the start.
From the outside barriers, GENTRY and ENFOLDING were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 1350 Metres, JOYFUL CONTENDER momentarily raced in restricted room inside WHAMPOA STAR which was racing tight inside REMARKABLE.
J Moreira (REMARKABLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KING OF MONGOLIA, causing that horse to be checked away from the heels of REMARKABLE.
J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 20 February 2019 and to expire on Monday, 25 February 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Moreira's good race riding record.
KING'S MAN had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 300 Metres, ART OF RAW, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of REMARKABLE (J Moreira) which shifted in.
J Moreira was advised to exercise more care.
For the majority of the race, ENFOLDING travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the performance of RADIANT BUNNY, Z Purton stated that it had been hoped that the horse would be able to take up a more prominent position but also with cover.
He said in order to clear the horses to his inside, he had to make considerable use of RADIANT BUNNY and then was not able to obtain cover as had been hoped.
He said RADIANT BUNNY consequently gave ground noticeably in the Straight.
The performance of RADIANT BUNNY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, RADIANT BUNNY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of RADIANT BUNNY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL CONTENDER and ART OF RAW immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOOD FIT and REMARKABLE were sent for sampling.

Favourite Good Fit took a while to wind up but eventually got going widest out from near last to get up in the final few metres for a third victory this term. The old-timer was suited by the good early pace but is racing in great spirits. Remarkable just out-fought Alcazar for second after hitting the front at the 200m following a one-off run in midfield. He's not far off a win at this level. Rolled-up in betting, Alcazar wouldn't go down without a fight after poking his head in front at the 250m following a box-seat run behind Lotus Breeze. He's turned the corner to place once on each surface from his past three starts and can break through shortly. Veteran King Of Mongolia kept on a distant fourth after copping a check from Remarkable at the 200m travelling better than midfield. He's shown a bit more spark in his past couple of runs. Radiant Bunny was stopping 300m out after tracking the leader. The huge drop in body weight was reflected in his run.
