Recap by phillip woo

Strathallan gamely held on after hitting the front 200m out prompting the pace along the fence for a second win from six starts and his first over this course. Lightning Treasure finished nicely four off the fence travelling third from the rear after bombing the start to get within a neck. Favourite Tom's Dragon stayed on nicely saving ground in midfield to finish a close third. He's turned the corner in his past two starts and should be repaying punters shortly. Very Sweet Orange produced a better run leading one-off the fence the entire trip to hold onto a Quartet spot. The combination of blinkers and switch to the Valley worked well. Flying Force closed reasonably well down the outside sitting last from a wide gate. He's more effective over the 1,200m. Lightning Steed was only battling on one-paced when having to steady approaching the 100m following a prominent run on the fence. He had excuses but is limited.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (323) - GREAT GEORGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

TOM'S DRAGON and STRIKING MR C were crowded for room on jumping between MULTIMAX and LIGHTNING STEED (Z Purton) which shifted out.

Z Purton was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.

In this incident, MULTIMAX became badly unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by STRIKING MR C.

LIGHTNING TREASURE, which was fractious in the barriers, began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, C Y Ho, becoming unbalanced and LIGHTNING TREASURE losing ground.

VERY SWEET ORANGE began awkwardly.

When being steadied from the outside barrier to be shifted across behind runners, FLYING FORCE was awkwardly placed outside PLANET NICCONI shortly after the start.

Approaching the 900 Metres, MULTIMAX and STRIKING MR C bumped.

After the 800 Metres, when being ridden along, MULTIMAX got its head on the side and shifted out.

Making the turn approaching the 500 Metres, VIGOROUS SPIRIT got its head on the side and lay out.

VIGOROUS SPIRIT then continued to lay out rounding the Home Turn and near the 250 Metres was bumped by MULTIMAX which shifted out.

After the 300 Metres, STRATHALLAN and VERY SWEET ORANGE raced tight.

Approaching the 100 Metres, LIGHTNING STEED was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of VERY SWEET ORANGE which shifted out marginally.

Close to the finishing line, LIGHTNING STEED was steadied away from the heels of LIGHTNING TREASURE (C Y Ho) which shifted in when not properly clear.

C Y Ho was reprimanded.

Throughout the race, PLANET NICCONI travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of STRIKING MR C immediately following the race confirmed the horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

TOM'S DRAGON, STRATHALLAN and LIGHTNING TREASURE were sent for sampling.
