Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (787) - LAI CHI CHONG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
GRATWICK began awkwardly and then was steadied away from the heels of KING MORTAR which shifted out.
WINNING WAYS was crowded for room on jumping between EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE and GO PUBLIC which shifted out.
Approaching the 250 Metres, Z Purton (PATCH BABY) dropped his whip.
Throughout the race, EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE travelled wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground.
The performance of WINNING WAYS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, WINNING WAYS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GO PUBLIC, HARD PROMISE and HAPPY METEOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PATCH BABY and RAGING BLITZKRIEG were sent for sampling.

Punted late Patch Baby came on strongly after travelling behind midfield to overhaul favourite Raging Blitzkrieg 150m out for a first win at his fourth start and first on the surface. Raging Blitzkrieg found one too smart after shooting to the front at the 300m following a handy run on the fence. He keeps promising but can't seem to deliver. King Mortar found a second win after being headed for the lead by Happy Meteor 700m out to fill a placing. Storm Soldier ran on from near the back in his best performance from six outings with a switch to the dirt. By the sire Pivotal, the wet going did help him. Happy Meteor was yielding ground 150m out after finding the front from the widest gate 700m out. The return to Class Three from a wide gate was too much of a hurdle following a Class Four success. Go Public was giving ground soon after straightening chasing the leaders one off the fence. He's not genuine.
