Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed late Multigogo reclaimed the front from Perfect Choice 150m out to make it three on the trot and four from five following a step up to the Valley 1,650m. He makes his own luck in front and should remain competitive up in class off a lighter weight. Ten Flames closed nicely to grab second 50m out after travelling behind midfield on the fence. He's a winner waiting to happen if he remains in the grade. Sichuan Boss kept up a grinding effort sitting fourth on the fence to finish a non-threatening third to continue his consistent form this campaign. Never Better ran on steadily from midfield to fill a Quartet spot. He has been more disappointing than not this term but is well handicapped. Enormous Honour got going from beyond midfield without threatening. He rarely produces a bad run in this grade but likely needs to find his mark again following a win. King's Man ran on without menacing from near the back. He needs a stronger pace.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (709) - SHELLEY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

SUPER SPRINTER was withdrawn on 5.6.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PERFECT CHOICE (K C Ng).

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER SPRINTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

BRING IT ON shifted in at the start and bumped PERFECT CHOICE which in turn shifted in and bumped HAPPY AND HEALTHY.

Shortly after the start, ENORMOUS HONOUR shifted in and bumped KING'S MAN.

From wide barriers, BRING IT ON and SMART BABY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After shifting across to race outside the leader MULTIGOGO after the 1200 Metres, PERFECT CHOICE travelled keenly and was consequently allowed to improve its position forward of MULTIGOGO into the lead near the 1000 Metres.

PERFECT CHOICE then continued to travel keenly in the lead.

Passing the 200 Metres, HAPPY AND HEALTHY was momentarily crowded for room between ENORMOUS HONOUR (N Callan) which initially shifted in and TEN FLAMES (T H So) which shifted out.

Both N Callan and T H So were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances to prevent their mounts from shifting ground.

When questioned regarding the performance of SMART BABY, Z Purton stated that although the race was run at a good tempo, his mount did not make up ground after being required to race at the rear of the field due to its outside barrier.

He said he was asked to shift SMART BABY to the outside of runners rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight to make its final run and after shifting SMART BABY to the outside of BRING IT ON passing the 400 Metres, SMART BABY quickened only fairly and then finished off the race only one-paced.

He added he noted that not many horses in the race were able to make up ground from towards the rear of the field and therefore SMART BABY's run may not have been as disappointing as it first appeared.

A veterinary inspection of SMART BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SICHUAN BOSS, MULTIGOGO and TEN FLAMES were sent for sampling.
