Recap by phillip woo

Fancied late in betting as usual, Sunny Win shook off some pressure from All Best Friends, straightened two lengths on top and kept finding to notch a fourth win from 18 starts. He hasn't been jumping all that well in recent runs but the key to victory was a swift start. Firming favourite Roman Impero ran on steadily along the fence following a midfield run to grab second to continue his solid run of form this season despite a rise in class. Let Us Win finished nicely travelling fifth from the rear to grab a placing in the last stride in an improved run with a switch to the dirt. Hopefully, this is a sign of better things to come. Dollar Reward was swamped late for a placing after making his run on the back of the speed. The mile is just a bit beyond his stamina limits and he'll need to strike an easier test. Kyrus Bowser stuck on all right after working over from a wide gate to sit one off in midfield. He's consistent without winning but might prefer the 1,800m on this surface.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (297) - PAK TAM CHUNG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

As the start was effected, VOLITATION (S Clipperton), which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground, turned its head to the right and as a consequence missed the start.

Jockey Clipperton reported following the race that after missing the start, VOLITATION, which was racing on the All Weather surface for the first time today, appeared uncomfortable racing back in the field and was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of VOLITATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GLORIOUS PARTNERS shifted out at the start and made contact with ROMAN IMPERO.

On jumping, WILLIE WAY and LET US WIN were crowded for room between GAMECHANGERS which shifted in and DEJA VU which was taken out by DOLLAR REWARD.

From the outside barrier, SILVERFIELD was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

On the first turn near the 1500 Metres, VOLITATION was steadied away from the heels of LET US WIN which shifted in.

Near the 1400 Metres, DEJA VU got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of DOLLAR REWARD.

Despite being hard ridden in the early and middle stages, SKY KING became detached from the field and finished distanced.

A veterinary inspection of SKY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

As this was the third occasion that SKY KING had become detached from the field in its four race starts this season, the Stewards ruled that that horse must perform satisfactorily in a series of consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

Trainer C Fownes however advised the Stewards that it is his intention to recommend to the owners of SKY KING that the horse be retired.

Upon entering the Back Straight near the 1100 Metres, BULLISH GLORY was momentarily crowded for room inside VOLITATION which shifted in slightly.

Just prior to the finishing line, T Berry, the rider of LET US WIN, was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount which shifted in and raced tight against DOLLAR REWARD.

A veterinary inspection of DEJA VU immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, DEJA VU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SUNNY WIN and ROMAN IMPERO were sent for sampling.
