Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Thunder Stomp took control 220m out for an easy win after getting a lovely ride one-off travelling fore of midfield. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over this Valley trip but might find it harder near the top of the weights when next reappearing. Kiram finished well to grab second on the wire after briefly being held up rounding the final bend following a midfield run. He's an honest galloper but does grow a leg on a wet track. Go Go Win hunted to the lead from a wide gate and kept on gamely for a placing with the claim well utilised. He's as honest as the day is long and is always going to play a role off a light weight in this grade or at the top of the weights in Class Four. Kyrus Bowser finished nicely three from the right after travelling behind midfield on the fence to fill the frame. He's naturally coming to hand and will be showing his true colours over the 1,800m and further. Little Island made some ground after travelling outside Kyrus Bowser.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (17) - SHUN LEE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

SKY KING began only fairly and then despite being hard ridden throughout the race was detached from the main body of the field.

A veterinary inspection of SKY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of SKY KING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SKY KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

UNICORN was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, MIGHTY BOY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the 1300 Metres, IMPERIAL SEAL was left racing three wide and without cover and was consequently allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead near the 900 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of IMPERIAL SEAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, Z Purton stated that after having to make use of IMPERIAL SEAL to overcome being caught wide and without cover, his mount was therefore not able to finish off the race and gave ground in the Straight.

Passing the 750 Metres, UNICORN went amiss in the left front fetlock and was retired from the race.

SKY KING, which was following, was shifted out abruptly away from that horse.

KIRAM had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

THUNDER STOMP and KIRAM were sent for sampling.

Samples were also taken from UNICORN.
