Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Convincible bounced well from a good gate to occupy the box seat before coming on to take control 150m out for an overdue win after threatening with placings in four of 10 other starts. He should remain competitive off a light weight in Class Two. The Supreme finished well after travelling behind midfield to run down Gracydad for second. He didn't mind the step back in distance and is a winner waiting to happen over the 1,200m to a mile at either track. Gracydad made use of a better gate to lead outright at the 1,000m and kept on gamely for a placing. He'll remain one to keep safe in calculations off a light weight. Lotus Breeze ran on steadily without menacing after a deep run travelling fore of midfield. He's had a good season but the rise in weight appeared to hold him back. General Iron stayed on all right following a rails run travelling ahead of midfield. He's on his way back following tendonitis issues but might be one for next campaign over this course and distance. Perpetual Joyance ran on without menacing from beyond midfield. He might be near his mark after three earlier wins and the shiftier ground might not have suited as well. Star Of Joy had excuses after a torrid run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (678)-TAN SHAN RIVER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

GENERAL IRON, which was fractious in the barriers, turned its head to the left just prior to the start being effected and then began very awkwardly and lost ground.

EXPERTO CREDE, APPLAUSE and THE SUPREME were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Passing the 300 Metres, STAR OF JOY (S Clipperton) shifted in and bumped I??M A WITNESS which became unbalanced and shifted in and bumped CONVINCIBLE which also became unbalanced.

S Clipperton was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and making unnecessary contact with other runners.

In the Straight, THE SUPREME lay out under pressure.

Throughout the race, STAR OF JOY travelled wide and without cover.

CONVINCIBLE and THE SUPREME were sent for sampling.

GENERAL:

1.

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Yielding?? to "Good to Yielding".

This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Yielding".

Adjourned Inquiries ?V 17 April 2017 Sha Tin Racemeeting ?V Race 4 (574) The Stewards tonight concluded two inquiries which were adjourned due to Jockey N Rawiller having to be transported to hospital as a result of a fall from MR ORIOLE rounding the Home Turn.N Rawiller pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1100 Metres he permitted his MR ORIOLE to shift in when not clear of WINNING CONTROLLER, resulting in that horse being taken in onto NOBLE DE BOY which was severely checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

In the unique circumstances of this case, the Stewards, having regard to the fact that Jockey Rawiller has not ridden since this racemeeting and is not likely to resume race riding in the immediate future, believed it appropriate for him to be severely reprimanded rather than any period of suspension or monetary penalty being imposed.

N Rawiller was however advised that this was the 7th occasion during this current season that he had breached the careless riding Rule and he was further advised that this aspect of his riding would need to be addressed should it be that he is granted a licence to ride by the Club next season.A short distance after this incident near the 1050 Metres, as N Rawiller attempted to direct MR ORIOLE out to relieve the tightening to WINNING CONTROLLER and NOBLE DE BOY, MR ORIOLE had to be steadied away from the heels of MULTIGOGO (M Chadwick) which had shifted in to take up the room left as a result of MR ORIOLE shifting inwards.

M Chadwick was advised that whilst the circumstances leading up to this incident had been beyond his control, nonetheless he was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that he is properly clear of other runners when shifting ground.
