Recap by phillip woo
Favourite Victory Boys got going 500m out after travelling fourth from the rear and got up three from the right 70m out for an overdue win after placing five straight times. He'll remain in the grade off a higher weight but should remain competitive at a mile to 2,200m. Specked late, High Volatility had his own way up front and kept on well. He's effective when allowed to bowl along uncontested on the lead. Sharp Sailor put the bob down late following a one-off run in midfield to edge Happy Contender for a placing. He's likely on or near his mark but rarely runs a bad race over this course. Happy Contender just failed to get up for a placing after having to switch to the outside of the lead 100m out following a patient ride third from the rear. He continues his consistent run of form without winning but needs a wet track. Beauty Love travelled keenly on the back of the leader and was yielding ground 150m out. He's not genuine. Favourite Istanbul Bey made only a mild bid widest out after travelling second from the rear. He's improved fitnesswise from his seven starts but just can't seem to put it all together on raceday and might be one for next season.
