Recap by phillip woo

Forever Posh dashed to the front 300m out after being nicely positioned on the back of the speed and held off the late surge of Namjong Invincible for a maiden win at his 16th start and only his second for the Richard Gibson yard. He was suited by the return to the dirt and step up in distance and might be able to ring up another on this surface. Namjong Invincible closed off well following a midfield run to finish a clear-cut second in a solid first effort on the surface following a near four-month break. He's capable but not reliable. Early favourite Gran Master stuck on well for third after making his move 500m out following a deep run without cover from beyond midfield. He's given a good sight in both outings and won't be far off a winning run. Best Tango eased back from a wide gate to find the fence behind midfield and finished well to fill a First-4 spot. He's run well in two straight on this surface from bad gates and will be a live chance when he draws a proper gate. Super Talent landed a nice spot one off in fifth from a wide gate but only held his ground in the drive to the wire. The weight anchored him. Sure Peace got going late travelling amongst the backmarkers after his usual tardy break. He's always a chance at this level on this surface but the gate, big weight and slow start went against him.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (646)-THE PURVES QUAICH (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1650Metres

FOREVER POSH began awkwardly.

GRAN MASTER and TRAVEL AMBASSADOR bumped at the start.

From wide barriers, BEST TANGO and SURE PEACE were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CURLING LUXURY failed to muster speed.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GRAN MASTER was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CROWN AVENUE.

Passing the 1400 Metres, CROWN AVENUE (Apprentice K K Chiong) shifted out abruptly away from the heels of SUPER TALENT (U Rispoli) which shifted in when not quite clear.

When CROWN AVENUE shifted out, CURLING LUXURY was bumped and taken wider.

Although the Stewards formed the view that CROWN AVENUE had overreacted when steadied at this time which made the incident look worse than it otherwise would have been, U Rispoli was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground.

Apprentice Chiong stated that after this incident she attempted to resume a position one horse off the rail, however, GRAN MASTER improved quickly to be racing inside CROWN AVENUE.

She said because CROWN AVENUE was left racing wide, she then steadied her mount so as to obtain cover behind GRAN MASTER which resulted in CROWN AVENUE racing further back in the field.

After the 1300 Metres, FIVE STARS AGENT got its head up when travelling keenly in the lead.

After the 1000 Metres, CROWN AVENUE proved difficult to settle and raced keenly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRAN MASTER.

Passing the 500 Metres, NAMJONG INVINCIBLE raced tight inside SUPER TALENT.

A short distance later, NAMJONG INVINCIBLE and SUPER TALENT were crowded for room inside GLORY STAR which got its head on the side and lay in as GRAN MASTER improved to its outside.

BEST TANGO, which was following SUPER TALENT, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Passing the 150 Metres, BEST TANGO and SUPER TALENT raced tight.

When questioned regarding his riding of MEGATRON, K Teetan stated that it had been intended for the horse to take up a trailing position if possible behind the horses that the connections considered likely to lead, namely FIVE STARS AGENT and CURLING LUXURY.

He said in order to obtain a forward position, he rode his mount along in the early stages, however, GLORY STAR, which was drawn inside MEGATRON, was also hard ridden in the early stages and passing the winning post on the first occasion MEGATRON was left racing three wide and without cover.

He said after the 1500 Metres he attempted to steady MEGATRON to obtain a trailing position behind GLORY STAR.

He said near the 1400 Metres SUPER TALENT was able to shift across behind MEGATRON to race directly behind GLORY STAR before he was able to steady MEGATRON and obtain the position behind GLORY STAR.

He added this resulted in MEGATRON being left racing three wide and without cover, therefore after the 1200 Metres he allowed MEGATRON to improve forward of GLORY STAR so as not to cover unnecessary ground.

A veterinary inspection of FIVE STARS AGENT and CURLING LUXURY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FIVE STARS AGENT, FOREVER POSH and NAMJONG INVINCIBLE were sent for sampling.
