Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Lotus Breeze responded nicely after a handy run one off the fence to take control 120m out to remain unbeaten twice under Joao Moreira. He has been able to raise his game in back-to-back runs over this Valley trip but is likely to find it harder when next stepping out in the middle of this class. Beauty Kingdom was unhurried behind midfield from a wide gate and closed furiously down the outside to grab second in the final few metres. He's honest as the day is long but just can't seem to salute hoovering around his current mark. Amazing settled behind midfield along the fence after being steadied at the start and finished well to get the bob down for third in a pleasing debut performance. When fully acclimatising, he'll be winning up to a mile and is bred to be a freak on the dirt as well. Wild Boy was swamped late for a placing after moving to second 40m out following a midfield run with a return to Class Three. He's better in Class Four. Nearly jumping favourite at the jump, Charity Glory was awkward coming to the final bend and badly hampered Navas. You can put an asterisk behind those two as well as Brilliant Dream who was badly hampered and lost ground when checked approaching the 1,000m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (514)-HARBOUR VIEW HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 3 - 1200Metres

BRILLIANT DREAM was slow to begin.

NAVAS began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, APACHE SPIRIT was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

WILD BOY was crowded for room shortly after the start between LOTUS BREEZE and EXCEL ONESELF which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, AMAZING was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, BRILLIANT DREAM got its head up and shifted out abruptly across the heels of NAVAS (N Callan) after racing tight inside that horse.

In this incident, BRILLIANT DREAM bumped the hindquarters of NAVAS, causing that horse to become unbalanced and then struck the heels of NAVAS and blundered.

As the Stewards were satisfied that at the relevant time NAVAS was still racing in a position one horse off the rail and that BRILLIANT DREAM's racing manners had played a significant part in this incident, no further action was taken, however, N Callan was advised to ensure that leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances.

Near the 950 Metres, BRILLIANT DREAM, which was racing ungenerously, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMAZING.

K Teetan stated that after this BRILLIANT DREAM continued to lay out and would not shift over to race close to the rail.

He said as he felt that the bit may have pulled through the horse's mouth, he attempted to adjust the bit in an endeavour to have the horse race more tractably.

He said when he was doing this, BRILLIANT DREAM became unbalanced in its action passing the 700 Metres.

Approaching the 500 Metres, CHARITY GLORY (N Rawiller) commenced to over-race and improved to be racing between EXCEL ONESELF and LOTUS BREEZE where there was insufficient room.

CHARITY GLORY then took charge of its rider and continued to improve between those runners, resulting in CHARITY GLORY being severely checked and bumping the hindquarters of LOTUS BREEZE which became unbalanced.

CHARITY GLORY then continued to attempt to shift out across the heels of LOTUS BREEZE, resulting in that horse having to be severely checked for some distance passing the 400 Metres.

In this incident, NAVAS improved into tight running inside CHARITY GLORY and was severely checked passing the 400 Metres when badly crowded inside CHARITY GLORY which at this time was racing untractably despite the efforts of its rider.

N Rawiller stated that he is well acquainted with CHARITY GLORY having ridden the horse previously and its racing manners at this time of the race were uncharacteristic as it had raced tractably when ridden by him previously.

He said the manner in which CHARITY GLORY had reacted concerned him that something may have been amiss with the horse and for this reason he commenced to ease it down rounding the Home Turn, however, in the early part of the Straight it commenced to race more tractably and then finished off the race quite well.

The racing manners of CHARITY GLORY were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CHARITY GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend and must be ridden in amongst horses.

A veterinary inspection of CHARITY GLORY immediately following the race confirmed that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

In this incident, AMAZING, which was following CHARITY GLORY and NAVAS, was hampered and forced to shift out abruptly from behind those horses passing the 400 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of NAVAS and EXCEL ONESELF immediately following the race revealed that both horses were displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, NAVAS and EXCEL ONESELF will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT DREAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LOTUS BREEZE and BEAUTY KINGDOM were sent for sampling.
