Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Fantastic Eight led from a wide gate and responded well when placed under pressure to open his career with a win. He had caught the eye in his trials and trackwork and should be an effective sprinter up to 1,400m. Everest had his chance in the box-seat and found one too good. He continues to be a model of consistency without winning. Love Chunghwa was forced three deep without cover in midfield at the 600m but still finished nicely four from the right to get the bob in for third. He appears form his past couple to be back on track after going off the boil in a few runs but isn't anything special. Doctors Delight closed off nicely near the inside after travelling third from the rear following a tardy break to just miss a placing in a vastly-improved second-up performance with a rise in trip. He's headed in the right direction and will get up to 1,400m when fully mature. Carefree Let Go rushed forward to park outside the leader at the 800m and was stopping 100m out. The big weight makes him vulnerable late in his runs. Bossiee had no excuse when coming off the fence in midfield approaching the final bend. He's weak and is not one to following at short odds.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (466)-GUIA HILL HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

DOCTORS DELIGHT was checked on jumping when crowded for room between RAY OF GOLD and DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS which was taken in by CAREFREE LET GO which shifted in on jumping.

Shortly after the start, MI BLANCO shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of RAY OF GOLD.

From a wide barrier, UP TO YOU was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

S Clipperton (EVEREST) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BOSSIEE, resulting in that horse being hampered and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards were of the opinion that whilst there was a high degree of carelessness exhibited by Jockey Clipperton in this incident, nonetheless the interference suffered by BOSSIEE was moderate and in the circumstances they considered the appropriate penalty was for Jockey Clipperton's licence to ride in races to be suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 26 March 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 30 March 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

Making the turn near the 900 Metres, BOSSIEE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EVEREST.

For some distance approaching and passing the 700 Metres, BOSSIEE travelled keenly.

RAY OF GOLD had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 200 Metres and approaching the 150 Metres was steadied away from the heels of BOSSIEE when disappointed for running between that horse and MI BLANCO.

Passing the 200 Metres, DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS was steadied when held up for clear running behind MI BLANCO.

Over the concluding stages, RAY OF GOLD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MI BLANCO.

Throughout the race, DON'T MISS travelled wide and without cover and for some distance in the middle stages got its head on the side and hung out.

A veterinary inspection of CAREFREE LET GO and BOSSIEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FANTASTIC EIGHT and EVEREST were sent for sampling.
