Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (248)-LONGINES INTERNATIONAL JOCKEYS' CHAMPIONSHIP (HANDICAP)- 4TH LEG - Class 3 - 1650Metres
On arrival at the Start, G Lerena expressed concern regarding the action of NITRO EXPRESS.NITRO EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was lame in the left hind leg and as such was not suitable to race.
Acting on this advice, NITRO EXPRESS was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, NITRO EXPRESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUPER FLUKE shifted in at the start and bumped ROYAL PARTNER.
From a wide barrier, TEN FLAMES was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
In the middle stages, CHEERFUL BOY raced keenly in the lead.
Over the last 100 Metres, ROYAL PARTNER was unable to obtain clear running behind CHOICE TREASURE and inside SUPER FLUKE and consequently was not able to be tested.
H Bowman, the rider of SUPER FLUKE, was not able to fully test that horse due to it racing tight outside ROYAL PARTNER.
Over the concluding stages, TEN FLAMES was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEAUTY PRINCE.
Approaching the winning post, PEARL WARM WARM (M Barzalona) shifted in and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHEERFUL BOY which shifted out marginally.
As a consequence, M Barzalona was unable to ride PEARL WARM WARM out over the concluding stages.
Throughout the race, JE PENSE travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of JE PENSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEAUTY PRINCE, BIG BANG BONG and VARA PEARL were sent for sampling.

Big Bang Bong was given a dream run tracking the speed along the fence and got up 150m out for an upset win despite producing only a fast-finishing fourth on the dirt from seven prior starts on both surfaces and courses. He'll need to prove this was no fluke. Vara Pearl got rolling widest out after travelling second from the rear to fill the Quinella spot. He has been running well without winning but should be saluting shortly. Cheerful Boy just held on for a placing by a whisker after getting away with an uncontested lead. He's at his best when allowed to dictate the running. Beauty Prince rallied well along the insider to just miss a placing after making his run third from the rear following a sluggish break. He has been running well in defeat over the 1,650m and a stretch out in distance to 1,800m might suit. Choice Treasure peaked on his run at the 100m following a midfield trip. He's better suited nowadays over the 1,200m.
