Recap by phillip woo

Diamond Bit was ridden for luck from a wide gate and got home just in the nick of time down the outside for a maiden win at his seventh start. He was knocking on the door in his opening two runs and struck a suitable race. Out of a Spectrum mare, a future rise to 1,400m won't be a problem. The summer has done wonders for Regency Horse who sustained his run from behind midfield after having to steady 1,000m out to make it close on the wire at only his second start. He's open to further improvement. The quick back-up wasn't an issue for Robust Momentum who got going from midfield to take third from Acclaimed Light close to home. Acclaimed Light only plodded following a one-out, oneback run. He likely needed the run. Bear Chum showed his vulnerability in the final 100m after having to work to clear for the lead from a tricky gate. Big weights have been a nuisance in both defeats at short odds this term and will need to see him get on track first.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (084)-HUNG SHUI KIU HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

BEAR CHUM began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, REGENCY HORSE shifted in and bumped ACCLAIMED LIGHT.

From the outside barrier, DIAMOND BIT was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, REGENCY HORSE was crowded for room between ACCLAIMED LIGHT and WONDERFUL CHASER (Z Purton) which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to REGENCY HORSE.

Z Purton was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes appropriate endeavours to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.

A short distance later, REGENCY HORSE was again steadied away from the heels of WONDERFUL CHASER which got its head on the side and lay in despite the efforts of its rider after racing tight inside BEAR CHUM which was racing right inside PEACE COMBINATION (K Teetan).

Then passing the 1000 Metres, WONDERFUL CHASER and BEAR CHUM raced tight between ACCLAIMED LIGHT and PEACE COMBINATION which again shifted in.

K Teetan was told to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners on his inside in similar circumstances.

After the 1000 Metres, ACCLAIMED LIGHT travelled keenly.

PEACE COMBINATION lost its right front plate near the 850 Metres.

Approaching the 800 Metres, WONDERFUL CHASER got its head up when being crossed by BEAR CHUM and shifted in, resulting in ACCLAIMED LIGHT racing in restricted room outside GENTRY.

ROBUST MOMENTUM, which was following GENTRY, was checked away from the heels of that horse passing the 800 Metres.

Passing the 500 Metres, WONDERFUL CHASER was bumped by REGENCY HORSE which was taken out by ROBUST MOMENTUM which shifted out marginally.

After this, REGENCY HORSE got its head on the side, shifted out and again bumped WONDERFUL CHASER.

Rounding the Home Turn, DIAMOND BIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SEA WARRIOR.

Approaching the 200 Metres, ROBUST MOMENTUM shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of ACCLAIMED LIGHT.

Then for a considerable distance after the 200 Metres, ROBUST MOMENTUM and ACCLAIMED LIGHT raced tight.

Close to the finishing line, ACCLAIMED LIGHT was eased away from the heels of REGENCY HORSE (N Callan) which shifted in under pressure.

Then passing the winning post, PEACE COMBINATION was crowded for room inside ROBUST MOMENTUM which was taken in by REGENCY HORSE.

In this incident, N Callan dropped his left rein.

N Callan was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to do more to prevent causing interference.

For the majority of the race, WONDERFUL CHASER travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of WONDERFUL CHASER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SEA WARRIOR immediately following the race found blood to be present at its right nostril.

An endoscopic examination conducted on SEA WARRIOR confirmed that the horse had bled.

BEAR CHUM, DIAMOND BIT and REGENCY HORSE were sent for sampling.
