Recap by phillip woo
Diamond Bit was ridden for luck from a wide gate and got home just in the nick of time down the outside for a maiden win at his seventh start. He was knocking on the door in his opening two runs and struck a suitable race. Out of a Spectrum mare, a future rise to 1,400m won't be a problem. The summer has done wonders for Regency Horse who sustained his run from behind midfield after having to steady 1,000m out to make it close on the wire at only his second start. He's open to further improvement. The quick back-up wasn't an issue for Robust Momentum who got going from midfield to take third from Acclaimed Light close to home. Acclaimed Light only plodded following a one-out, oneback run. He likely needed the run. Bear Chum showed his vulnerability in the final 100m after having to work to clear for the lead from a tricky gate. Big weights have been a nuisance in both defeats at short odds this term and will need to see him get on track first.
