Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Mr Right was ridden along to settle one off in second behind the expected leader Harbour Alert, rushed to the front 200m out and kept on gamely for a third course-and-distance win this term despite a rise in class. General Iron bided his time fourth from the rear, swung the final bend widest out and finished willingly to get up in deep stretch for second. No Money No Talk rushed to second four deep following a one-out, one-back run and had to settle for third in the end with a tonne of money for him late. Smart Declaration finished well near the inside after travelling third from the rear from an outside gate to just miss a placing. Newcomer Mint Master settled one off the fence in midfield, swung the final bend near five deep and stayed on reasonably well to pick up a minor pay cheque. Imperial Champion was prominently ridden along the fence, was steadied 150m out and kept on evenly thereafter. Early favourite Harbour Alert found the front as expected, cornered a half-length on top and drifted out while giving ground 150m out. Happy Meteor found little in the run to the wire following a deep run with cover around midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (415)-TSUEN WAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres

As the start was effected, WAYFOONG VINNIE, which was fractious in the barriers, bounded in the air and lost ground.

Before being allowed to race again, WAYFOONG VINNIE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

MINT MASTER and GENERAL IRON were crowded for room on jumping between NO MONEY NO TALK and HARBOUR ALERT which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, SMART DECLARATION was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

MINT MASTER travelled keenly in the early and middle stages.

Making the first turn after the 800 Metres, WAYFOONG VINNIE shifted out and bumped HAPPY YEAH YEAH, resulting in that horse being taken wider.

Approaching the 100 Metres, BEAUTY MASTER was shifted in away from the heels of HARBOUR ALERT which was giving ground.

Passing the 100 Metres, MINT MASTER was shifted out away from IMPERIAL CHAMPION which, after initially being directed out by HARBOUR ALERT, then shifted out further of its own accord under pressure.

Near the 50 Metres, WAYFOONG VINNIE was shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY METEOR.

Throughout the race, CALL ME ACHIEVER travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HARBOUR ALERT, S de Sousa stated that his mount travelled strongly in the lead in the early and middle stages, however, after placing his mount under pressure at the entrance to the Straight, HARBOUR ALERT did not quicken as he expected it would and then in the Straight was inclined to shift ground on a number of occasions when under pressure.

He added HARBOUR ALERT was disappointing in that it did not respond to his riding and failed to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of HARBOUR ALERT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY METEOR and CALL ME ACHIEVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MR RIGHT and GENERAL IRON were sent for sampling.
