Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (275)-SATURN HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1650Metres
As the start was effected, FIGHTING BOY stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground.Before being allowed to race again, FIGHTING BOY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
From the outside barrier, VARA PEARL was steadied and taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, DUAL HAPPY was inconvenienced when contacted on the hindquarters by FIRST SIGHT LOVE which raced tight inside NEVER BETTER.
Passing the 200 Metres, NEVER BETTER was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WEALTHY FORTUNE which shifted out marginally under pressure.
D Whyte was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of FIRST SIGHT LOVE.
He said FIRST SIGHT LOVE, as is customary, settled back in the field, however, was most disappointing in its failure to respond to his hard riding from the 500 Metres and had failed to finish off the race as he would have expected.
A veterinary inspection of FIRST SIGHT LOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

FIRST SIGHT LOVE, VARA PEARL and SILVER DRAGON were sent for sampling.

Vara Pearl was patiently ridden second from the rear from a wide gate, rounded the final bend near six deep and closed furiously to run down Silver Dragon in the final few strides for a second career win. Silver Dragon was gifted an uncontested led, turned the final bend just over a length on top and just missed. System Overload was on cruise control coming to the final bend following a box-seat run, drew level when asked for an effort at the 200m and came up one-paced over the last 100m. He's crying out for a longer trip. Graceful Kingdom eased back to travel one off the fence in fourth, rounded the final bend five deep and kept grinding away to finish a clear-cut fourth. Lightning Pegasus shifted into the open six deep at the 250m following a rail's run in midfield and kept grinding away without menacing. Wealthy Fortune worked into the open with two wider out at the 300m following a one-off run worse than midfield and ran on steadily to just miss out on a pay cheque for connections. Fighting Boy made some ground near the inside after spotting the field a huge start at the break.
