Recap by phillip woo

General Iron took up a prominent run one off the fence from a tricky gate, forced six deep by Longwah Amber at the 250m and finished well to get up close to home for the win with a rise in trip. Early favourite Blocker Dee settled one off the rails in fifth, rounded the final bend with one wider out and ran on nicely to make it a whisker on the wire. He'll be winning his share of races this term. Both Lucky travelled fourth along the fence, worked to the front three deep 60m out and found a couple just too good in the end. It was only his fourth start in Hong Kong and he'll be winning shortly. Secret Agent ran on steadily three deep after a one-off run worse than midfield. Plunged late to start favourite, Excel Oneself found the front one off the fence from Longwah Amber, went to the rail's 500m out, turned the final bend near two lengths on top three off the fence and was swamped 100m out. Imperial Rome made ground late without menacing after bombing the start. He's always his own worst enemy. King Of Mongolia made only a mild bid near the inside after going back from a wide gate to eventually land a spot on the rail behind midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (052)-THE CITI SPRINT CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec2) - Class 3 - 1200Metres

After being loaded, LONGWAH AMBER became fractious and reared.

Before being allowed to race again, LONGWAH AMBER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

IMPERIAL ROME stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground.

Having in mind the circumstances, the Stewards ruled that IMPERIAL ROME must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.

HO LEE HORSE shifted in shortly after the start and bumped the hindquarters of LONGWAH AMBER.

Shortly after the start, SECRET AGENT became unbalanced after shifting out and bumping BLOCKER DEE.

From a wide barrier, KING OF MONGOLIA was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 800 Metres, BLOCKER DEE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GENERAL IRON.

Shortly after entering the Straight, LONGWAH AMBER shifted out and made contact with GENERAL IRON.

Near the 200 Metres, KING OF MONGOLIA was taken in by SECRET AGENT.

Near the 150 Metres, GIANT STARS was shifted out away from the heels of LONGWAH AMBER which drifted out.

Over the concluding stages, GENERAL IRON and BLOCKER DEE raced tight.

A veterinary inspection of LONGWAH AMBER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

EXCEL ONESELF, GENERAL IRON and BLOCKER DEE were sent for sampling.
