Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, Lyric Ace jumped well to lead easily from gate nine with the cheek pieces removed, cornered two lengths on top and kept on gamely for a maiden win at his 17th start in a good time. Early favourite King Tai Sing rounded the final bend with one wider out after travelling one off in a handy position and got up 60m out for the Quinella spot. Mr Award settled second in the run when failing to muster enough speed to match Lyric Ace, shifted three deep soon after straightening and kept on reasonably well for a placing. Late-fancied favourite Happily Time made his run underneath King Tai Sing, stayed to the inside upon straightening and kept on one-paced when asked for a response. Danewin Winning went forward from the widest gate to settle one off in third, cornered five deep and peaked on his run 150m out with a return to Class Five. He is one to keep safe at this level from a proper gate. New Pet ran on late without menacing after travelling third from the rear. Third favourite Eagle King did not make much of an impression after straightening three deep following a rails run from behind midfield. Winning Boy was not tested in the final 150m after travelling at the tail of the field.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (329)-BOWRINGTON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres

When proving difficult to load, DANEWIN WINNING made contact with the starting gates.

DANEWIN WINNING was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, DANEWIN WINNING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

NEW PET began only fairly.

HAPPILY TIME began awkwardly and shortly after the start was hampered when steadied away from the heels of GRACYTOM which was taken in by MR AWARD.

SECRET IDENTITY shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of KING TAI SING.

From wide barriers, CHINA GOOD and WINNING BOY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

EAGLE KING was steadied in the early stages to obtain a position with cover.

In the early stages, FRESH AIR hung in despite the efforts of its rider and then making the turn near the 1050 Metres shifted in and bumped SECRET IDENTITY.

After the 700 Metres, GRACYTOM and SECRET IDENTITY raced tight.

SECRET IDENTITY, which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover, made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly.

Approaching the 400 Metres, WINNING BOY was steadied after being disappointed for tight running between CHINA GOOD and FRESH AIR.

After the 200 Metres, WINNING BOY was shifted to the inside of EAGLE KING after being disappointed for running between that horse and NEW PET which was shifting in.

WINNING BOY was then unable to obtain clear running between EAGLE KING and CHINA GOOD for the remainder of the race and consequently was not able to be tested.

Over the concluding stages, NEW PET raced tight between EAGLE KING and DANEWIN WINNING which shifted in marginally.

A veterinary inspection of SECRET IDENTITY and FRESH AIR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HAPPILY TIME, LYRIC ACE and KING TAI SING were sent for sampling.
