Recap by phillip woo
Firming late, Master Kochanwong was able to clear from an outside gate for the lead, cornered narrowly on top from Access Years and repelled that one to chalk up a fourth win from eight outings on this surface. Favourite Access Years sat on the back of the leader, moved closer to challenge rounding the final bend and fought on gamely. The 11-pound swing in the weights was the difference in the end. Lord Sinclair travelled third from the rear, inched closer to midfield rounding the final bend three deep and ran on steadily to grab a placing 200m out without menacing the top pair. Exciting Dream made his run second from the rear, cornered five deep and was doing his best work late. Go Baby Go settled fourth along the rails after a sluggish break, stayed to the inside upon straightening and kept on all right with a switch to the dirt for the first time. Smart Man had every chance following a one-off run in midfield and came up flat when asked for an effort four deep over the final 200m.
