Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (231)-LONGINES INTERNATIONAL JOCKEYS' CHAMPIONSHIP (HANDICAP)- 4TH LEG - Class 3 - 1650Metres
As the start was effected, GRIFFINDOR lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly.Shortly after the start, GRIFFINDOR was checked when crowded for room between STARTING OVER which was hampered when taken out by AMAZINGLY and WAH MAY BABY which shifted in abruptly after being bumped by JUN GONG.
In this incident, Y Fukunaga, the rider of WAH MAY BABY, became badly unbalanced.
DIVINE DIYA was slow to begin.
From a wide barrier, SUPREME WINE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early part of the Straight, JUN GONG got its head on the side and hung in under pressure.
Approaching the 200 Metres, AMAZINGLY was shifted in away from the heels of SUPREME FLIGHT to obtain clear running.
Close to the finishing line, C Soumillon (STARTING OVER) momentarily lost his grip of the whip before re-gathering it.
A veterinary inspection of JUN GONG and WAH MAY BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GRIFFINDOR, AMAZINGLY and SEMPITERNAL were sent for sampling.

Amazingly ducked and weaved about near the inside after travelling worse than midfield along the rails to get up 60m out for the win. Sempiternal was pestered for the front by Supreme Flight to his outside after leading from an awkward gate, cornered narrowly on top, kicked a length clear the 200m and kept up a good gallop to clearly hold second despite setting a good pace. He continues to add to his impressive resume over varying course and distances this term. Favourite Griffindor was hampered at the start, made his move 500m out following a one-off run in midfield and could get no closer than third. Sensationally-backed late, Faster More made his run third from the rear and three deep from the widest gate, swung the final bend three from the right and ran on well to fill the frame. Starting Over travelled one off behind midfield, rallied with three wider out at the 250m and ran on steadily to just miss the frame. Kerkeni produced a much-improved run second-up following a gear change to finish thereabouts after a three back run along the fence.
