Recap by phillip woo
Firming favourite Able Friend eased back after jumping well to travel one off the rail outside Ambitious Dragon in midfield, swung the final bend five deep and quickened nicely to win going away at the 200m. He will be hard to beat in the Hong Kong Mile next month. Gold-Fun was held up until shifting outside Secret Sham four deep at the 250m mark following a prominent run along the rails and finished well to grab second around 60m out just ahead of Ambitious Dragon, who finished well after working his way around a tiring Lord Sinclair at the 150m. Secret Sham assumed the front 250m out after tracking the even fractions of Lord Sinclair and found the top-three a class too good. Rainbow Chic made his run third from the rear near the inside, angled into the clear with three wider out at the 250m mark and ran on without menacing. Rewarding Hero settled behind midfield and made some ground without ever looking a threat with two wider out upon straightening. Packing Whiz settled near the back and never a factor despite a move to blinkers.
