Punted late, Oriental Prosper was well rated on the front from gate two, cornered two lengths on top and kept finding to score an overdue victory following back-to-back placings on the dirt track. Fabulous November enjoyed the box-seat run, shifted three deep soon after straightening and finished up nicely to come out a clear second in his first Valley appearance over the 1,200m distance. All Win Boy just outfinished favourite Metallic Star from four deep following a one-off run in midfield to grab third. Metallic Star made his run just behind All Win Boy and ran on steadily one off the rails in the drive. Best-backed late, Grand Plus was handy one off the fence, swung the final bend with two wider out and plugged on at a one-paced speed over the final 150m. He's much better on the dirt track. New Stamina made some ground third from the rear without menacing in his initial run at the Valley. Smart Ball settled one off in fourth when failing to produce the necessary pace to lead, swung the final bend with one wider out and was struggling from 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (126)-BIRCH HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 3 - 1200Metres

ALL WIN BOY and METALLIC STAR bumped at the start.

STEP FASTER lost ground when crowded for room on jumping between NEW STAMINA and WINDICATOR STAR which got its head on the side and shifted out after beginning awkwardly.

From wide barriers, BO DUKE and NEW STAMINA were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the early part of the Straight, NEW STAMINA got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

After the 300 Metres, METALLIC STAR was shifted in to obtain clear running.

Passing the 150 Metres, STEP FASTER was hampered when taken out by NEW STAMINA which shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of FUN TAPESTRY which was giving ground.

Throughout the race, SMART BALL travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of SMART BALL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

METALLIC STAR, ORIENTAL PROSPER and FABULOUS NOVEMBER were sent for sampling.
