Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (096)-PERIDOT HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres
On arrival at the Start, A Suborics expressed concern over the action of CHEERS VICTORIES.CHEERS VICTORIES was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after the necessary consultations that the horse was suitable to race.
The start was delayed when a piece of gear carried by CHANS DELIGHT required replacing after arriving at the barriers.
CHANS DELIGHT, JOLLY POSH and MI SAVVY were all crowded for room at the start between LUCKY DAY and EXCEL ONESELF which shifted out.
In this incident, EXCEL ONESELF became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by CHANS DELIGHT.
A Suborics (CHEERS VICTORIES) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of FAMILY INTERESTS, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
A Suborics was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 20 November 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).
The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 9 November 2014.
From wide barriers, ALL TIMES LUCKY, BLACK STAR and FABIO were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, NATURAL TEAM was steadied passing the 1100 Metres when racing wide to obtain cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, ALL TIMES LUCKY raced tight inside CHANS DELIGHT which was positioned inside LUCKY DAY which was racing tight inside CHEERS VICTORIES.
Then near the 850 Metres, ALL TIMES LUCKY was steadied when continuing to race tight inside CHANS DELIGHT which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of LUCKY DAY.
Making the turn near the 550 Metres, INTELLECTUAL GLIDE shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NATURAL TEAM.
Shortly after entering the Straight, M L Yeung (BLACK STAR) dropped his right rein.
Near the 150 Metres, INTELLECTUAL GLIDE was bumped by NATURAL TEAM which shifted in.
In the Straight, EXCEL ONESELF and FABIO lay in under pressure.
Throughout the race, CHEERS VICTORIES travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY DAY and NATURAL TEAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LUCKY DAY, EXCEL ONESELF and JOLLY POSH were sent for sampling.

Well-punted late, Excel Oneself pulled out four deep upon straightening after a box-seat run and quickened well to take control 150m out for a win with an important return to the Valley. Plunged late, Jolly Posh was fought back when briefly headed by Mi Savvy after dictating the run but was no match for the winner. It was a positive performance with a return to Class Four and he remains one to follow. Mi Savvy had every chance after stalking the speed one off and came up flat over the final 100m. All Times Lucky settled behind midfield along the rails after being snagged back from a wide gate, cornered three deep and was running on reasonably well to add some value to the First-4. Favourite Lucky Day settled one off in a handy spot, swung the final bend with three wider out and plugged on without menacing off a big weight. Family Interests made some ground down the outside after settling third from the rear without ever looking a threat. Fabio was doing some nice work late from near the back after switching off from a wide gate. Chans Delight settled fore of midfield along the fence, came one off upon straightening and was one-paced under the whip.
