Recap by phillip woo
Khaya was rated nicely after being dug up to lead quickly from the widest gate, cornered a length on top and kept on gamely for an easy win as the late-fancied favourite. Helene Super Star travelled fore of midfield and one off the rails, straightened four deep and finished well to grab second 100m out. He's performed nicely in both outings this term and will be looking forward to a 1,800m race. Packing Llaregyb settled behind midfield and three deep with cover, rounded the final bend with two wider out and finished before peaking on his run 100m out. Flame Hero niggled forward to sit one off in second at the 1,200m, straightened three deep and lost a placing in deep stretch. Approve enjoyed the box-seat run, stayed to the inside upon straightening and only held his ground when popped the question. Willie Invictus made his run fifth from the back along the fence, angled into the clear with one wider out at the 350m and was doing his best work late without menacing. Early favourite Travel Brother shifted underneath Helene Super Star two off the rails at the 350m following a midfield run and ran on steadily without ever looking a threat following a stable change and switch to blinkers.
