Recap by phillip woo
The Prince was well rated on the front, cornered a length on top, doubled the advantage at the 300m and kept the momentum going for a nice win. Short-priced favourite Brilliant Dream settled second and one off the rails, straightened two deep and couldn't close the gap on the winner carrying top weight. Multi-Win General was ridden cold from the widest gate in a slow run race, swung the final bend deepest out and finished up well to grab Genuine Champion in the final stride for a placing at odds in an improved performance with the crossed nose band applied. Genuine Champion came one off following a box-seat run and was one-paced over the final 150m. Kokoda settled midfield along the rails, pulled out three deep at the 300m for a clear run and plugged on without menacing. China Power settled fifth and one off the rails and only held his ground to finish a ways off the top five. Winning Nine was badly stirred up in the gates and withdrawn. Firming late, Jade Pippo was lashed by Winning Nine and also withdrawn.
