Recap by phillip woo
Double Dragon handed up the lead to Goldweaver 1,150m after jumping nicely, came two off soon after straightening, hit the front passing the 200m and kept on gamely for the win with a drop in grade as the favourite. Plain Blue Banner settled behind midfield and three deep with cover from a wide gate, rounded the final bend with two wider out and finished up nicely to snatch second in a blanket finish for the minors. Fancied late, Goldweaver dictated a good pace after finding the front, cornered nearly two lengths on top and lost second on the line. Supreme Profit was nailed to the rails three back after recovering after a tardy break, stayed to the paint upon straightening and kept grinding away to miss a placing by a whisker. He too was suited by a drop in class and may prefer a longer trip. The Only Kid was taken back to settle third to fourth from the rear and two off the rails with cover, pushed into the open with one wider out upon straightening and was doing his best work late without menacing.
