After basking in the flow of her Olympic gold, Simone Biles’ celebratory Instagram post featured a cryptic retort at former American teammate MyKayla Skinner, hinting at lingering tensions.

Biles, now crowned as the world’s most decorated gymnast, spearheaded her illustrious team to top of the women’s team podium on Wednesday early morning.

Team USA’s near-flawless execution catapulted them to victory, routing Italy and Brazil by nearly six and seven points, respectively.

But the “gymternet” went into a frenzy when Biles posted a photo of Team USA jubilantly lifting the American flag, accompanied by the caption “lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions”.

The opaque caption appeared to be a sharp riposte to Skinner, who criticised the team’s work ethic and run-of-the-mill talent in a now-deleted 24-minute YouTube video that remains on X and Instagram.
