  • Shake Shack joins a slew of takeaway offerings in Tung Chung’s Citygate shopping centre while Chicano offers authentic Mexican fare on Gough Street in Central
  • Have your fill or surf and turf at Bifteck’s brunch, while Somm at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental brings the best of French bistro fare to its new menu

With the news that social restrictions will ease in April, we’re very excited to announce the latest additions to Hong Kong’s dining scene to help you plan your next meal. Gérard Dubois of Passion and La Rose Noir fame has opened a third concept in Wan Chai, while Aven Lau is rumoured to join forces with Twin’s Kitchen to launch a European bistronomy restaurant in Soho. Two new eateries have opened up on Gough Street, with Shake Shack joining the fray in Citygate in Tung Chung.

There are always plenty of new places to try in Hong Kong and we look forward to announcing many more in the coming months.

Among those who have a penchant for baked goods, Swiss pastry chef Gérard Dubois needs no introduction. The famed chef of Passion bakery in Wan Chai has opened a new artisanal deli with a focus on vegan soups and salads as well as the eponymous loaf. The bread is made with a 30-year-old dough starter and patrons can look forward to a flakier, springier version of sourdough.

2. Vivant

Hot on the heels of winning SCMP’s 100 Top Tables Rising Star award of 2022, we have heard through the grapevine that Aven Lau just had his last day at Bâtard. So when prolific brother restaurateurs Josh and Caleb Ng of Twin’s Kitchen announced that they’re opening Vivant with a Belon and Bâtard alum, we can’t help but make a good guess. If these rumours are true, Vivant will have a waiting list for months when it opens.

3. Thirsty Shaker

Co-founder of The Wise King, Sandeep Hathiramani has started a new venture on the slopes of Soho. Shared drinks such as punch take centre stage, but we’re sure the bar will do some pretty awesome cocktails as well.
