How Art Macao is inspiring 4 restaurants to create gourmet works of art
La Chine, the Golden Peacock, Portofino and Brasserie are among the restaurants at Sands Resorts Macao offering aesthetically pleasing menus
Food is a big part of Macau. The city was named Unesco’s “creative city of gastronomy” in 2017, and it’s where Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant awards were announced for two straight years. Sands Resorts Macao, where Dianping’s Black Pearl awards were announced two years in a row, houses Michelin stars as well as Black Pearl Guide diamonds. To celebrate Art Macao, the integrated resort has prepared delicious, aesthetically pleasing menus. Here are restaurants that feature gourmet works of art among their dishes.
La Chine
Level 6, Eiffel Tower, The Parisian Macao, +853 8111 9210
A premier destination for fusion cuisine in Macau is La Chine, where chef Chung Kuy Fai serves up delectable dishes such as roasted suckling pig eclair with foie gras, apple and truffle caviar. For Art Macao, the restaurant is offering a five-course tasting menu of French-influenced Chinese cuisine. Start your journey with La Chine’s signature assorted appetisers that include escargot, foie gras, caviar and scallops. Finish off the meal with a desserts like chocolate fondant with pumpkin ice cream on the side – a presentation that draws inspiration from Sands Resorts Macao’s ceramics exhibition, “All That’s Gold Does Glitter”.
The Golden Peacock
Shop 1037, Casino Level 1, The Venetian Macao, +853 8118 9696
This star-studded eatery at The Venetian Macao is known for its contemporary Indian cuisine. Chef Justin Paul gives diners an authentic experience, showcasing food from the different regions. During Art Macao, The Golden Peacock is offering a four-course menu inspired by artist Caroline Cheng’s blue and white ceramic butterfly dress called Prosperity. Expect a recreation of the artwork on two stunning dishes. The Lobster Maheen Katli is dotted with butterflies, just like the dress, and the eponymously named dessert is a medley of hazelnut chocolate mousse, blueberries, cherries, cardamom and yogurt topped with gold leaf.
