Headlining the event is the first-ever fashion show to be held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, by locally born, London-based fashion designer Robert Wun, one of the most promising home-grown talents to emerge in the past decade. Aside from being the first designer from Hong Kong to exhibit an haute couture collection in Paris as a guest member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, he has also dressed A-listers such as Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga and Adele. Wun is due to display his “Home” collection on Tuesday to coincide with the 10th anniversary of his brand, and will lead a masterclass with fashion hopefuls on Thursday.

Another key component of Centrestage is the Young Fashion Designers’ Contest, an annual competition that aims to spotlight and nurture new talent by providing a platform for young designers to present their work. The contest culminates in a runway show in which finalists unveil their collections in front of judges including Mihara Yasuhiro and Martine Rose, with the champion plucked from a pool of 10 aspirants to net a cash prize of HK$60,000.

Centrestage also features the Fashion Hong Kong designer showcase, which runs alongside the main event and highlights local designers and their creations under the theme of “In the Mood for Fashion”. This year, selected designers are collaborating with Hong Kong film directors to merge fashion with cinematic storytelling. The showcase includes a variety of runway shows and presentations, providing a vibrant platform for local talent to shine.

Fashionistas can participate in Centrestage by signing up online to attend everything from fashion presentations to seminars, in addition to a fair that comprises more than 200 brands divided into Craftsmanship, Contemporary, Urban, Athleisure and Circular Fashion categories.
