so much make-up and concealer can do — the secret to a healthy complexion at all times is to keep the skin clean and smooth with an even tone. And British spa and beauty brand Elemis recently launched the Biotec Sonic White Brightening Facial, which claims to help you do precisely that.

When I visit 10/10 Space, the therapist explains that the Biotec device features five technologies, including microcurrent lift and oxygen infusion, and is used in eight facials there. The Biotec Sonic White Brightening Facial will use two of the technologies and all the products used are from the new range, which relies on kiwi, pea and daisy extracts as well as vitamin C to reduce the appearance of melanin and pigmentation.

After the skin is thoroughly cleansed, the White Brightening Even Tone Lotion is applied before the face and neck are treated with ultrasonic peeling technology. The device — which draws out impurities and boosts blood circulation — has an intimidating buzzing noise that the therapist has warned about in advance. I feel the cool touch of the metal plate which helps scrape off the grime and the tingling feeling caused by the exfoliating lotion, but that is all.

A moisturising and mattifying peel-off cream mask is then applied. She moves on to massage my arms with brightening oil.

"The last thing you want is for the face and arms to be different shades," she says. The final step of the facial employs the device's light therapy technology. Blue light is used to soothe the skin and help with absorption of the serum.
