The body of a five-year-old girl was recovered in Indonesia’s Bangka-Belitung Islands on Sunday, hours after she was reportedly snatched by a saltwater crocodile.

The girl, identified by rescuers as Chaca, was found dead early Sunday morning, Antara News reported. She was last seen bathing in an abandoned tin-ore mining pond on Saturday.

“The victim was snatched by a crocodile,” said I Made Oka Astawa, head of the search and rescue agency based in the province’s capital city of Pangkalpinang.

Her body has since been turned over to her family for burial.

The discovery of Chaca’s body at 5.20am on Sunday concluded an hours-long search that involved local rescuers, the army and the police.
