Filipino couple charged with hacksaw murder of police officer in Philippines
The murder case against the couple, who are also police officers, was filed after an alleged ‘intimate situation’ involving the victim
A Filipino police couple have been charged with murdering a fellow officer whose dismembered body was discovered in a house in Benguet province.
Investigators alleged that an enraged Roderick Pascua shot Emmanuel De Asis and chopped him up with a hacksaw after he caught his wife and the victim in an “intimate situation” at the former’s flat in Taguig, Metro Manila, on November 28.
Pascua later dumped the remains in a bag and buried them in his ancestral home in Baguio City, where police exhumed the body last Wednesday after he confessed to killing De Asis.
“The husband instructed his wife to get a hacksaw and she was present at the time of the killing and during the mutilation,” police spokeswoman Jean Fajardo told a news briefing on Monday.
Fajardo pledged a thorough investigation into the “deeply tragic” incident.
She said Pascua’s wife Rosemarie was not ready to talk to investigators as she was still in a state of shock.
The suspects’ bid to conceal their alleged crime appeared “premeditated”, according to Fajardo.
