Hong Kong told to brace for showers, squally thunderstorms over next few days

Hongkongers can expect rainfall over the next few days, the local weather forecaster has said, as a southwesterly airstream off the coast of Guangdong province continues to affect southern China.

“With the southwesterly airstream becoming active, there will be more showers with squally thunderstorms and it will be windy over the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days,” the Hong Kong Observatory said on Thursday.

The weather will be mainly cloudy with a few showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, according to the latest forecast. Showers are expected to be heavier in some areas.

The temperature is set to range between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius (82.4 and 89.6 Fahrenheit), with relative humidity of 70 to 95 per cent.

The Observatory also predicted rainfall and squally thunderstorms for Friday and Saturday, with temperatures expected to hit a maximum of 31 degrees and relative humidity of 95 per cent.
