Donald Trump impeachments
On January 13, 2021, the Democrat-led US House of Representatives voted to impeach outgoing Republican President Donald Trump for a second time. Trump had apparently whipped up a group of supporters who had invaded Congress on January 6, seeking to stop the confirmation of Joe Biden as the next president, then failed to immediately disown them. Five people were killed in the assault. Trump had earlier been impeached on December 18, 2019, on two counts: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. He was acquitted by the Republican-majority Senate on February 5, 2020.
