Bolt signs for a Chinese club ... just maybe not the one you think as Jamaican sprinter joins Robbie Williams to do it for the kids
Former Olympic champion teases the internet with announcement he’s joining a soccer team but leaves fans disappointed
The internet waited with bated breath on Tuesday for an announcement regarding Usain Bolt after the Olympic champion and world record holder teased fans by saying he had “signed for a football team” .
Speculation reached fever pitch that the Jamaican sprint superstar would be joining South African side Mamelodi Sundowns after they tweeted Bolt wearing their training kit.
It turns out that the fastest man on the planet was not turning pro, though.
Instead his “signing” was for Unicef to take part in their Soccer Aid pro-celebrity charity match at Manchester United’s Old Trafford on June 10.
Bolt will play for a World XI against an England team captained by Robbie Williams.
Needless to say, Bolt’s fans were left disappointed that he was not signing a first pro contract.
