Douglas Whyte is a South African jockey, the most successful rider in Hong Kong history. Nicknamed the 'Durban Demon', he first rode in Hong Kong in 1996, before relocating to Sha Tin permanently during the 1997-98 season. He was champion jockey for 13 consecutive seasons from 2000-01. He holds the record for most wins in Hong Kong, 1,686 up to the end of the 2014-15 season, and has become one of the names most synonymous with Hong Kong racing. He has ridden some of Hong Kong's best horses, including Ambitious Dragon, Indigenous, Akeed Mofeed and Glorious Days.
