Racing Incident Report
Race Three : (358) - HELENE PARAGON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 FLYING LUCK (J339) B Shinn Made contact with a rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 BALLISTIC WIN (J040) B Thompson Between the 500 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 3 BRIGHT INHERITANCE (J215) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 4 MATSU VICTOR (H472) J McDonald When questioned, J McDonald stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position.
He said when MATSU VICTOR commenced well, he was caught wide in the early stages and initially endeavoured to obtain cover behind SMART BEAUTY.
He said when unable to obtain cover and when the pace of the event was being run inside of standard time, he was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 MIGHTY STRENGTH (H450) M F Poon Shortly after the start raced tight to the inside of CHATER GOLD which lay in.
Horse No 8 GOLD MASTER (J389) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 CARRYON SMILING (J392) K De Melo After the event, K De Melo reported that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position than at its previous race start.
He said in the early stages when racing to the outside of STORM RUNNER and CELTIC TIMES, he was obliged to continue forward to cross those runners to avoid racing wide.
He said as a result he was obliged to make some use of his mount to do so which caused CARRYON SMILING to race keenly in the early stages.
Trainer W Y So confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 11 CHATER GOLD (J004) C Williams Between the 350 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 12 MISTER DAPPER (H376) A Pouchin Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start raced tight between FLYING LUCK and CARRYON SMILING which shifted out.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 13 SUNDAY'S SERENADE (J231) K Teetan Held up making the Home Turn.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Well-backed Gold Master made his run four back on the fence, weaving through near the inside to get up 60m out for a first win at his fourth start. He had shown hints of ability in his first three starts. Punted late Sunday's Serenade ran on nicely for second after biding his time two from the rear. He's a winner waiting to happen. Mighty Strength made up heaps of ground down the outside for third travelling second last from gate 10. He has come up second best in two of four starts this term. Mister Dapper stayed on well for fourth after getting posted wide without cover travelling midfield. It was a better performance following a stable change. Favourite Flying Luck ran on a non-threatening fifth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. It was a slightly disappointing run. Bright Inheritance got going late from the rear of the field for sixth.
