Race Two : (357) - PENIAPHOBIA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SKY JOY (K026) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SUNNY DARLING (J171) C Y Ho Approaching the 900 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by SPICY STANDARD which shifted in before being corrected by its rider B Avdulla.
After the event, C Y Ho stated that despite riding his mount along in the early stages SUNNY DARLING did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
He said in a recent barrier trial on 10 January 2025 SUNNY DARLING had performed in a similar manner and, in his opinion, shows better pace when racing on the All Weather surface.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY MISSILE (H123) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 4 CHILL MASTER (J319) A Pouchin Jumped only fairly.
After the 600 Metres became unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of FLASH CURRENT.
Near the 350 Metres was shifted to the outside of FLASH CURRENT to obtain clear running.
Near the 200 Metres was steadied when unable to continue to proceed forward between SUNNY DARLING and FLASH CURRENT which shifted out.
Horse No 5 FLASH CURRENT (J500) K C Leung Near the 800 Metres was briefly crowded by QUICK CONTRIBUTION which lay in.
From the 400 Metres until the 50 Metres was badly held up for clear running.
Horse No 6 NOBLE GO (K053) A Atzeni When commencing to give ground near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded by FLASH CURRENT (K C Leung) which, after being held up behind SPICY STANDARD, then shifted in to obtain clear running to the inside of SPICY STANDARD as that runner also shifted in.
K C Leung was reprimanded.
Horse No 8 RAGING RAPIDS (J228) A Badel Near the 900 Metres was bumped when it shifted in.
Horse No 9 SPICY STANDARD (J520) B Avdulla Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 11 WITH A SMILE (K136) Z Purton Making the Home Turn was crowded for room by SKY JOY which, after being taken in slightly by NOBLE GO (A Atzeni), then shifted in and away from that runner slightly.
A Atzeni was reprimanded.
For some distance near the 450 Metres raced tight to the inside of SKY JOY which continued to lay in despite the efforts of its rider.
Over the final 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running and as a result could not be ridden out over the concluding stages.
Horse No 12 BIENVENUE (J490) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.
Near the 900 Metres was bumped by RAGING RAPIDS and as a result was steadied.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 14 ORIENTAL TYCOON (J112) H T Mo Shifted out on jumping.

Sky Joy took advantage of a one-out, one-back run to move to the lead 100m out and score a second consecutive win after a debut second. Bienvenue ran on nicely for second after making his run fifth last after a sluggish start from gate eight. Quick Contribution just held on for third after a wide with cover trip from better than midfield. He's heading in the right direction after a closing sixth on debut 18 days ago. Beauty Missile just failed to get up for third after making his run fourth last following a slow start. He's close to finding a rating bottom. Raging Rapids ran on nicely with one wider out after making his run third last from gate seven. It was an encouraging debut performance. Debutant With A Smile was held up for a majority of the straight run after settling fifth on the fence as the second favourite. He should have finished closer.
