Recap by phillip woo

After shooting to the front near the inside, post-time favourite Kasa Papa kept on gamely after a perfectly executed ride to land a spot fourth on the fence from gate nine for a first local win at his 30th start. Early favourite Smashing Express ran on nicely along the inside to finish a close second following a rails run from behind midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen in this grade. Gold Tack ran on well for third after a rails run from midfield. It was an improved effort following a gear change and step up to the course and distance of a near win in April. Running Ahead sustained his bid from near the rear at the 500m to fill a top four spot. He is close to a win. Fury And Gold came from last and widest out for fifth without threatening the top four. He's clearly a better horse over 2,200m. Confringo ran on without threatening after biding his time one from the rear. It was a positive showing down in Class Five for the first time. Nice Birdie made some ground late after travelling three from the rear. You'remyeverything didn't have much left to offer 150m out after working forward very wide to prompt the pace.
