Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (311) - LEI MUK SHUE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 DRAGON JOY (J278) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton advised that the instructions were to hold a midfield position with cover.
He said in the early stages when caught wide he elected to come back to obtain cover behind YEE CHEONG RAIDER to avoid racing wide.
He said as a result DRAGON JOY was obliged to race further back in the field than instructed.
Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 2 FUN TOGETHER (H041) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 DEVAS TWELVE (H435) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 BRILLIANT EXPRESS (J321) H Bowman Bumped at the start.
After the event, H Bowman reported that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position but when caught wide in the early stages he elected to endeavour to obtain a trailing position behind RUN RUN TIMING.
He said as he attempted to do so, the pace of the event eased which resulted in BRILLIANT EXPRESS racing a little keenly.
He said after obtaining cover leaving the 900 Metres, the pace of the event quickened and as a result he was obliged to start riding his mount along to make up ground.
He added whilst under pressure on the Home Turn BRILLIANT EXPRESS lay out and after responding to his riding in the early part of the Home Straight lost momentum near the 170 Metres when it awkwardly passed a mark on the track at that point.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 RUN RUN TIMING (H403) H Bentley Shortly after the start was crowded between BRILLIANT EXPRESS and ALL EYES ON ME which shifted out slightly.
Horse No 8 MAX QUE (J514) M Chadwick In the Home Straight lay out under pressure.
For some distance after the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between CIRCUIT MIGHTY and RUN RUN TIMING.
After the event, M Chadwick reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages as when MAX QUE was having its first race start it did not appreciate racing in a more forward position.
Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 11 ALL EYES ON ME (J453) M L Yeung Shifted out shortly after the start, was bumped and became unbalanced.
Horse No 13 YEE CHEONG RAIDER (J176) K Teetan For some distance approaching the 900 Metres raced tight to the inside of BRILLIANT EXPRESS (H Bowman) and near the 900 Metres was eased to avoid BRILLIANT EXPRESS when that runner shifted in when not quite clear.
H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 14 LUCKY MAN (J315) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 150 Metres raced tight between SOMELOVEFROMABOVE and CIRCUIT MIGHTY when improving between those two runners.

Devas Twelve tracked the speed from gate seven, poked his head in front 300m out and just outduelled Fun Together for a second 1,400m this season following fifths in three consecutive 1,600m runs. Fun Together wouldn't go down without a fight after rushing to the lead passing the 1,000m from gate 10. He relished both a downgrade and step back to 1,400m. Punted late Dragon Joy took inside runs late for third after fading back to second last from a wide draw. It was a solid effort carrying top weight following a win. Lucky Man ran on nicely to just take fourth ahead of Circuit Mighty after making his run two from the rear. He's improving with each run and will be a great chance if he finds his way into Class Five. Circuit Mighty held his ground after a prominent run one off the fence. It was another honest effort. Max Que made good ground late through the middle after biding his time fourth last from gate 14. Favourite Brilliant Express only plodded after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield.
