Howdeepisyourlove came from the rear of the field to collar raging favourite Magic Control in the last stride for a sixth win and first at black-type level from 25 starts. He handled the straight 1,000m with aplomb after racing well against the best sprinters in two prior starts over 1,200m. Magic Control did everything right but get the win after going for home clearly on top at the 300m following a pace-prompting run. It was another solid performance. Beauty Waves produced only a grinding effort from midfield to fill a placing without threatening the top two. He couldn't add to an earlier win over the straight 1,000m. Whizz Kid ended fourth after dictating the early run. He wasn't good enough to repeat a win in this race last year. Awesome Treasure just held his ground travelling one from the rear. He didn't disgrace despite racing 29 pounds out of the handicap. Harmony N Blessed was retreating 300m out after sitting third in the run to finish last of six starters. He's struggled an upset Sha Tin 1,200m win in September.
