Racing Incident Report
Race Eleven : (317) - CHUK YUEN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters
Horse No 2 VOYAGE SAMURAI (J026) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton reported that his mount was unsuited with the pace of the event being run outside of standard time in the middle stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 MICKLEY (K082) H Bowman Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Over the final 100 Metres was held up behind PRESTIGE ALWAYS and as a result was unable to be ridden out to the finish of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 MY WISH (J256) L Ferraris When questioned, L Ferraris stated that with his mount stepping up in distance to 1600 Metres and a number of noted leaders in the race, he was instructed to find a position behind the lead with cover.
He said in the early stages he was able to comply with those instructions when crossed by VOYAGE SAMURAI where MY WISH travelled comfortably.
He said entering the Home Straight when positioned between VOYAGE SAMURAI and PRESTIGE ALWAYS he commenced to look for a run to the outside of PRESTIGE ALWAYS when there was no other option available to him.
He said as he commenced to shift out, PRESTIGE ALWAYS then shifted out which resulted in a run becoming available between VOYAGE SAMURAI and PRESTIGE ALWAYS.
He added as he was committed to continue to the outside of PRESTIGE ALWAYS, he continued to do so but experienced difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance near the 300 Metres when PRESTIGE ALWAYS continued to shift out.
Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.
After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Ferraris were reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 6 SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 150 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of VOYAGE SAMURAI to continue into clear running.
Horse No 7 PRESTIGE ALWAYS (J300) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 8 FALLON (H219) M Chadwick Held up for clear running approaching the 300 Metres.
Horse No 9 STEPS AHEAD (J263) C Y Ho Was examined by the Veterinary Officer after arriving at the Start and passed suitable to race.
Bumped at the start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 HUGE WAVE (J197) H Bentley Shortly after the start was taken in and bumped on the hindquarters.
Approaching the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 STAR MAC (J053) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was bumped by HUGE WAVE which was taken in by MIDORI FUJI.
For some distance after the 350 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Horse No 12 PRESTIGE GOOD (K131) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Near the 300 Metres was contacted on the hindquarters by MIDORI FUJI and became unbalanced.
Horse No 13 MIDORI FUJI (J432) B Thompson Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between PRESTIGE GOOD and MY WISH (L Ferraris) which shifted out.
L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 14 FLAGSHIP WARRIOR (G452) M L Yeung Bumped at the start.
Horse No PRAY FOR MIR (J245) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 31.12.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter FALLON.
Before being allowed to race again, PRAY FOR MIR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Rolling Arrangement Rolling after Race 6 was cancelled due to weather condition.

Huge Wave travelled prominently on the fence, moved to the lead 150m out and held off the late surge of Steps Ahead for a second win from 11 starts. Steps Ahead ran on nicely to make it close on the wire after a wide with cover trip travelling behind midfield from gate 14. My Wish ran on well for third after working into the clear near the 200m following a one-out, one-back run. Flagship Warrior ran on well for fourth after a wide trip towards the rear from gate 13. He will be a top chance if he finds his way into Class Four. Fallon ran on steadily for fifth after a rails run from midfield. He has been hovering around the finish in a good number of his six starts this term. Star Mac got going late near the outside to earn sixth prize money after making his run one from the rear. Prestige Always was retreating near the 100m after getting posted wide without cover near the speed from gate 10. Voyage Samurai was running on empty 100m out after going for home on top 300m following a speed tracking role from gate 11.
