Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Noisy Boy was too good after moving to the lead 250m settling second behind the tearaway leader Frantanck for a first win at his third local start. He relished the rise in trip. Sharpen Bright stayed on nicely to take second after settling a distant fourth along the fence. He continues to hold his form very well this season. Simple Hedge ran on well to just take third after biding his time one from the rear. It was a return to form at his initial run over the Valley 2,200m. Natural Storm ran on nicely along the inside to just miss a placing after a rail run from midfield. It was a better performance on his return to his favourite Valley 2,200m. Early favourite Rocket Spade got going late for fifth ridden for luck at the rear from an outside draw. It was an OK effort with a rise in trip after an 1,800m win. California Voce had his chance but wasn't good enough after sitting third behind the eventual winner. It was a slightly better effort from five starts this term, but he just hasn't been the same horse following knee surgery.

Horse No 6 FRANTANCK (H429) L Hewitson When questioned, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to lead the event, but he was advised not to excessively restrain the horse as it has a respiratory condition and has been reported as a "roarer" He said after leading the event in the early stages, near the 1600 Metres FRANTANCK raced keenly and lay in which resulted in it making contact with the running rail near the 1200 Metres.

He said whilst he was aware he was setting a fast pace, having regard to his instructions not to excessively restrain his mount, FRANTANCK set a faster pace than he would have liked despite his best endeavours to restrain his mount in accordance with his instructions.

He added that as a result of the manner in which FRANTANCK raced throughout the early and middle stages it gave ground in the Home Straight.
