Recap by phillip woo

King Eccellente dashed strongly to nail Super Sixty in the final few strides after making his run third last from gate eight for a fourth win from 32 starts. Super Sixty found one just too good after moving to the lead 100m sitting one off with cover in midfield from gate 12. He can salute shortly from a better draw. Club Ace stayed on well for third after a box-seat run. It was a solid debut effort. Beauty Thunder ran on nicely at massive odds for fourth following a rail run from behind midfield. It was a vastly improved effort. Bits Superstar ran on steadily for fifth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was clearly a better effort at his second run down in Class Four from five starts this term. Parents' Love gradually faded after going forward to chase the leader Notthesillyone from gate six. He needs a kinder run. Wisdom Star kept on one-paced after a rail run in midfield. Lean Master will sleep well after a prominent trip wide without cover despite gate four. Ka Ying Resilience was gone after a prominent run with cover one off the fence.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (288) - VENUS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 LEAN MASTER (H134) A Pouchin After the event, A Pouchin reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a consequence gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) M Chadwick Bumped at the start.

Horse No 3 KING ECCELLENTE (G264) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 KA YING RESILIENCE (J439) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount jumped only fairly and as a result he rode it along in the early stages to hold a forward position.

He said throughout the early and middle stages KA YING RESILIENCE was not comfortable racing between CLUB ACE and LEAN MASTER and was under pressure throughout these sections of the race.

He said on the Home Turn KA YING RESILIENCE failed to respond to his riding and gave ground from that point onwards.

Trainer D A Hayes stated that he had been pleased with KA YING RESILIENCE in the lead up to tonight's race and in particular the horse had barrier trialed well on 16 December 2024.

He added that he had expected KA YING RESILIENCE to perform well but agreed with Jockey Purton that KA YING RESILIENCE was not comfortable racing in amongst other horses but also would be better suited over 1200 Metres at Happy Valley where there is usually less pressure in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of KA YING RESILIENCE was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, KA YING RESILIENCE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 CHILL MASTER (J319) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly, got its head up, shifted in and made contact with BEAUTY THUNDER.

A short distance later, CHILL MASTER was then checked when crowded between BEAUTY THUNDER and BITS SUPERSTAR which raced tight to the inside of SUPER SIXTY.

Near the 800 Metres, when racing keenly, was checked when it improved close to the heels of WISDOM STAR.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres was steadied when it lay out towards BEAUTY THUNDER.

After the event, M F Poon reported that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, raced greenly throughout the race.

Horse No 7 CLUB ACE (J523) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

After travelling a short distance was bumped by KA YING RESILIENCE which shifted in and away from LEAN MASTER.

Horse No 8 HAPPY TANGO (D075) Y L Chung Bumped at the start.

After the event, Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to hold a more forward position but despite riding his mount along in the early stages HAPPY TANGO did not show sufficient pace to do so.

Horse No 9 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with HAPPY TANGO.

When questioned, B Avdulla stated that his instructions were to endeavour to lead and obtain a position on the rail as PARENTS' LOVE races best in this position.

He said in the early stages when unable to cross NOTTHESILLYONE he elected to race outside that horse but in the Home Straight PARENTS' LOVE hung in and proved difficult to ride out.

He added that over the concluding stages when he was concerned that PARENTS' LOVE may shift in and crowd the running of NOTTHESILLYONE he was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount to avoid causing interference.

He said as a consequence he was unable to ride PARENTS' LOVE out to the finish of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 SUPER SIXTY (J071) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.
